Carbon Offsetting Initiative

At SolarEquity, we have developed an initiatve that can allow you to offset your emissions through sponsoring the addition of rooftop solar installations on affordable housing developments

SolarEquity’s carbon offset program is unique as it offers two significant benefits for the price of one. Donating to SolarEquity generates guilt relief for offsetting carbon production – and hence protecting our planet – and also promotes social good by interrupting a chronic cycle of poverty related to high energy costs.

The numbers below reflect estimations made by Southern Energy Management in Orange County, NC. The estimations are based off of the savings from a single 5.4 KW system. Moreover, it is assumed that 1 ton of carbon is equivalent to $50 as set forth by the Biden administration.

A 5.4 KW system consisting of 16 solar panels saves 11,000 grams of carbon every year and homeowners $65 per month.

A 5.4 KW system requires $20,000 worth of capital.

The average passenger vehicle emits about 411 grams of CO2 per mile which equates to 111 grams of carbon per mile. Annually, the average American drives 14, 263 miles per year.
